We are a boutique law firm, specializing in high end technology- and IP-related matters, primarily for large multi-national companies.  

Our name -- PatentEsque Law Group, LLP -- reflects the central role that patents (and other forms of IP) play in technology-driven companies. However, we do not file or prosecute patents. 

Instead, we help our clients with matters at the intersection of IP (especially patents) and business transactions:  IP strategy (including monetization), technology transactions (including licensing, joint ventures & strategic alliances), and consulting & expert witness services. 

In the IP strategy field, we have extensive experience in the entire patent monetization life cycle, including evaluating & managing patent assets, structuring & negotiating all kinds of patent transactions (buying/selling, exclusive/nonexclusive licensing, standards bodies, assertion/defense consortiums, etc.), evaluating actual/threatened IP threats, and litigation (offensive/defensive).  We have a particular expertise in the areas of patent pools, and the licensing standards-essential patents, across various industried, including audio, cellular, automotive and IoT.

In the tech transactions field, we focus on strategic alliances and joint ventures, all kinds of software/IT deals (licensing, software as a service, outsourcing, e-commerce), R&D, manufacturing & distribution agreements, sales & marketing partnerships, university research, business unit spin-offs, and more.  In addition, we also advise on IP aspects of mergers & acquisitions, venture capital financings, private equity investments, and other corporate transactions.

At the intersection of IP strategy and tech transactions, we have particular expertise in the critical challenge of establishing technology/IP frameworks for collaborative ventures such as JVs, strategic alliances and so-called "open innovation" partnerships.  This often involves structuring licenses to preexisting technology/IP of individual participants, allocating ownership & usage rights of newly-created technology/IP arising from the collaboration, and disposing of those assets at the end of the collaboration. 

Finally, we also provide consulting and expert witness services for litigation matters, especially those involving issues of patents, IP/technology transactions, and joint ventures/strategic alliances.
